I’m proud to say that my bathroom is. finally. done. After what was supposed to be a 2 day project turned into a 2 week project, it’s accomplished.

So are you ready?  Here is the before picture decked out in Christmas crap stuff. Just a room that I forgot was there I guess.  The toilet bowl cover makes me laugh. Out of the 4 bathrooms in our house, that was the only one with a cover. Girl’s Scout Promise!

As you know, I had a wallpaper tear down party.  You can read about the trouble fun I had here. I finally rented a steamer and remembered the trick to getting it down quickly.  It wasn’t bad after that.

My friend Tim came over and helped me put up new paper. I know some of this will make you twitch because the thought of wallpaper still is not favored by most. HOWEVER, I have had 3 beautiful double rolls of this metallic gold/silver/bronze paper for at least 7 years.  And I had saved it for my “forever” home. But it seems that this is my “forever” home.

Then, during this ordeal, my faucet started leaking heavily.  It had already worked itself loose and was crooked.  Nice. This picture was taken straight on.  Can you see how crooked it is?  We do our best here at the Davis household. :)

Plus isn’t the brass and white just beautiful?  Have I mentioned that I have brass EVERYWHERE in my house? I hate it.  My friend Diane is a designer and  has a beautiful brass faucet in her bathroom but you can tell it’s upscale. Click here for part 1 of her house tour. It’s amazing.

Mine is not. They don’t even sell many brass fixtures anymore!  So I had a date with a paint can for this little guy but it turns out the parts underneath couldn’t be fixed.   I wanted bronze but they were all $100 which seemed a little ridiculous to me.  But I found out a secret about Home Depot I’ll share in a future post.

Oh, and did I mention the toilet started leaking and needed to be replaced?  Thankfully my friend and contractor Brandon told me about a steal of a deal for the best place to buy new toilets.  I was shocked. Again, future post.

So anyway, after much chatting, here she is:

I wound up painting the cabinet black, like I did with my kitchen island.  NO SANDING REQUIRED! Read here for the info. Happiness in a box I tell ya. I left on the original hardware and think they look beautiful on black.

I spray painted my ugly brass fixture with Rustoleum’s primer/paint in one combo and LOVE the results. I left the centerpiece gold on accident (couldn’t find it at the time!) but decided to leave it. Love the contrast.

I used said spray paint here on the towel bar and also on the “toilet roll holder thingy” or whatever it’s called.

I put the decorative rack back in without torturing it with paint because I loved the original finish-black and bronze. But I did change out the accessories. It’s hilarious. At least to me.

See that picture in the middle?  That’s my son at 4 months old (he’s now almost 9 months old) with his tongue stuck out.  So when you sit down on the throne, here’s what you see:

Here are some other accessory shots:

Do you see the tiger’s face?

And moved our “D” picture beside the decorative rack as I felt like it competed with the mirror.I think she’s my new favorite room in the house. Maybe I’ll just sit in there all day. I love this new mirror.  The one previously was just a standard one without a frame. This black and gold one I picked up years ago at Kirkland’s that had been sitting under a bed for years. Why I didn’t do this sooner is beyond me!

What a difference a little a lot of work makes! What ‘cha think? I’m proud of how she turned out. My comment button is at the top of the post if you want to weigh in.  Don ‘t forget to come back for future posts about the toilet and the faucet!  Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings!
Melody

Melody, you did a great job with your bathroom remodeling! I wish I had read your column on removing old wall paper before I removed some from a wall in my kitchen-dining room! What a mess that was! I didn’t re-paper the wall, I painted!

WOW! Looks so great. Very elegant and classy. Nice work!!

(PS. Would you mind sharing with me how you get the party buttons so small. I am a wordpress blogger, too, so I am hoping it is a trick I haven’t figured out yet?!? Thanks.)

Hey! Of course! After you put the code in the HTML tab, I switch back over to the visual tab and decrease the size and move them there. Just resize them by grabbing the edge of the boxes. Does that help? If not, I can call you and walk you through it.
